Sewer Backups

Sewer Backups and Blockages – Please No Wipes in the Pipes

The Authority is currently having a problem with sewer backups and blockages in our mains and at our pump stations due to the increase of people flushing wipes into the sewer system. Even though the cloth-like wipes are advertised as “flushable”, they do not break down in the sewer system like toilet paper and can block sewer lines, clog equipment and increase maintenance and repair costs for the Authority.
We are not saying don’t use the wipes, we are asking that you DON’T FLUSH them; throw them in the trash can. Remember “No Wipes in the Pipes”.
